Crossbow 101

Information & Education

The NACF has worked for years to help meet the growing need for crossbow education. Our past crossbow educational efforts have centered around the shooting sports industry; we have collaborated with state agencies, outdoor writers, and state crossbow organizations. If you would like crossbow information or educational materials, contact the NACF.

One of the major goals of the NACF is to help in hunter recruitment. The NACF continues to work to promote archery, along with other organizations such as the Archery Trade Association, the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies, and the American Crossbow Federation, as well as many other national programs. The NACF has also partnered with state hunter recruitment programs to expand recruitment efforts. The NACF's in-school program, the Introductory Crossbow Archery Program (ICAP), is a new teaching effort that offers both a written educational curriculum and equipment standards. If you would like more information on the details of the ICAP, contact a member of the NACF.

Crossbow education and safety information are made available by the NACF. One of the primary crossbow training materials is "Crossbow 101," a 20-minute online video. You may obtain other written materials that accompany "Crossbow 101" from the NACF.

To help understand the true function of crossbows and the positive effects of crossbow hunting, the NACF created the "Fundamentals of Crossbow Dynamics and Usage" publication. This 30-page document discusses crossbow functions and ballistics, national expansion, and game management. The NACF will provide additional materials upon request.
